The Patriots would get the ball first on their own 25 yard line. The first play of the game would be a handoff to Mark Van Eeghen from Steve Grogan resulting in a gain of 5 yards to get to the 30 yard line. Tony Collins would then rush for a gain of about 5 yards to get near the 35 yard line but the play would be wiped out due to an offside penalty on New England pushing the Patriots back 5 yards to their own 30 yard line bringing up a 2^{nd} & 9 situation. Steve Grogan would then find Lin Dawson for a gain of 6 yards to get to the 37 yard line. Tony Collins would rush for a gain of 2 yards to get to the 39 yard line. The Patriots would ultimately be forced to punt. The Dolphins would get the ball to start the game on their own 40 yard line. The first play of the game for the Dolphins would be a hand off by David Woodley to Andra Franklin which would result in a gain of 7 yards to get to the 47 yard line. Andra Franklin would then rush for a gain of 16 yards to get to the New England 38 yard line. Tony Nathan would then rush for a gain of 3 yards to get to the Patriots 35 yard line. Andra Franklin would then rush for a gain of 1 yard to get to the New England 34 yard line. The Dolphins would ultimately be forced to punt. The Patriots would get the ball back on their own 20 yard line. Mark Van Eeghen would rush for a gain of 2 yards to get to the 22 yard line. Tony Collins would then rush for a gain of 5 yards to get to the 27 yard line. Tony Collins would then rush for a gain of 2 yards to get to the 29 yard line. The Patriots would be forced to punt the ball. Miami would get the ball back on their own 15 yard line after a 51 yard punt by Patriots punter Rich Camarillo. Andra Franklin would rush for a gain of 8 yards to get to the 23 yard line. Tony Nathan would then rush for a gain of 4 yards to get the first down at the 27 yard line. Andra Franklin would then slip and fall losing 1 yard bringing up a 3^{rd} & 3 situation from the Patriots 34 yard line. Tony Nathan would fall short of the first down and the Dolphins would be forced to punt the ball. The Patriots would get the ball back on their own 20 yard line. Mark Van Eeghen would rush for a gain of 5 yards to get to the 25 yard line. Mark Van Eeghen would then rush for a gain of 4 yards to get to the 29 yard line. An off sides penalty on the Dolphins would give the Patriots a first down at the 34 yard line. Mark Van Eeghen would then rush for a gain of 6 yards to get to the 40 yard line. Mark Van Eeghen would then rush for a gain of 9 yards to get a first down at the 49 yard line as the quarter came to a close.
Quarter Two: Mark Van Eeghen would then rush for a gain of 1 yard to get to midfield. Mark Van Eeghen would then rush for a gain of 2 yards to get to the Dolphin 48 yard line. Steve Grogan would then find Lin Dawson with a gain of 7 yards to pick up the first down at the 41 yard line of Miami. Van Eeghen would then pick up 5 yards to push the Patriots offense down to the Dolphin 33 yard line bringing up a 3^{rd} & 2 situation. Mark Van Eeghen would then rush for the first down by picking up a gain of 6 yards to get to the 27 yard line of the Miami Dolphins. Mosi Tatupu would then pick up 3 yards rushing to get down to the Miami 24 yard line. Mosi Tatupu would then rush for a gain of 10 yards to get to the Dolphin 17 yard line. Tatupu would then get down to the 12 yard line after a pickup of 5 yards rushing. Mosi Tatupu would then pick up 4 yards more to get to the 8 yard line of the Dolphins. After a measurement a 3^{rd} & inches situation would be upcoming. Tatupu would get the first down with the forward momentum and pick up 3 yards at the Dolphin 5 yard line. Mosi Tatupu would then fight his way down to the 4 yard line after a gain of 1 yard. Mosi Tatupu would fight his way down to the goal line. It would be ruled a touchdown and a 3^{rd} & goal situation would be the upcoming result. Mosi Tatupu would be stopped with no gain bringing up a 4^{th} & goal situation from just outside the goal line. John Smith would cap off the drive by missing a 19 yard field goal after the ball was tipped. The Dolphins would take over on their own 20 yard line. Andra Franklin would then rush for a gain of 9 yards to get to the 29 yard line. Andra Franklin would then find a hole to rush for a gain of 7 yards to get to the 36 yard line. David Woodley would find Bruce Hardy for a gain of 13 yards to get out to the 47 yard line of New England. Andra Franklin would then rush for a gain of 8 yards to get to the New England 39 yard line. Tony Nathan would then pick up the first down at the Patriots 38 yard line after gaining 1 yard. David Woodley would run the bootleg and run the ball for a gain of 10 yards to get to the New England 28 yard line. David Woodley would then throw to Tony Nathan for a gain of 10 yards and would get to the Patriot 18 yard line. Andra Franklin would then get tackled in the backfield resulting in a loss of 2 yards to push the Dolphins back to the 20 yard line of New England. David Woodley would then be sacked by Clayton Weishuhn causing a loss of –11 yards on the play pushing the Dolphins back to the Patriot 31yard line forcing the Dolphins to try the field goal. Taking the wind, snow and field position into account Don Shula would elect to punt the ball back to the Patriots instead of trying the field goal that would have been in the area of 45 yards. The Patriots would get the ball back on their own 20 yard line after the punt went into the end zone for the touch back. With :08 left to go in the half and from the their own 20 yard line, Steve Grogan would take a knee to run out the clock to end the half.
Quarter Three: The Dolphins would get the ball first to start the half. Miami would get the ball first on their own 31 yard line after a return of 20 yards. Andra Franklin would then rush for a gain of 8 yards to get to the 39 yard line. Andra Franklin would then rush for almost 2 yards but would be just short of a first down near the 40 yard line. Andra Franklin would get the first down after a carry of just under 2 yards to pick up the first down at the 43 yard line after a measurement. Tony Nathan would then rush for a gain of 2 yards to get to the 45 yard line. David Woodley would then be sacked by Larry McGrew causing a loss of – 5 yards pushing the Dolphins back to their own 40 yard line. The Dolphins would ultimately have to punt. The Patriots would get the ball to start the second half on offense at their own 29 yard line. Mark Van Eeghen would rush for a gain of 2 yards to get to the 31 yard line. The Patriots would go three and out on their first possession and be forced to punt. The Dolphins would get the ball back on their own 24 yard line after a 48 yard punt. Tony Nathan would rush for a gain of 1 yard to get to the 25 yard line. David Woodley would then pass the ball to Tony Nathan that would result in a pass play completion of 8 yards to get to the 33 yard line. On a 3^{rd} & 1 situation, Tony Nathan would leap over the defensive line of the Patriots to try to pick up the first down after a measure, he would get 1 yard for the first down at the 34 yard line. Vigorito would then find a hole to get to mid field after rushing for a gain of 12 yards. Andra Franklin would then rush for a gain of 5 yards to get to the Patriots 45 yard line. A quarterback draw to David Woodley would lose the ball but the Dolphins would recover possession at the New England 45 yard line bringing up a 3^{rd} & 6 situation. David Woodley would then find Vigorito with a gain of 5 yards to get to the 40 yard line of New England. Andra Franklin would then rush for a gain of 8 yards to get down to the 32 yard line of New England. Andra Franklin would then get tackled in the backfield causing a loss of 1 yard on the play pushing the Dolphins back to the 33 yard line of New England. From the Shotgun formation, Tony Nathan would pick up 6 yards to get the first down at the New England 27 yard line. Three consecutive pass play incompletions would force the field goal attempt. Uwe Von Schamann would cap off the drive by missing a 44 yard field goal as it would be blocked by Andre Tippet. The Patriots would get the ball back on their own 27 yard line. Mark Van Eeghen would then rush for a gain 12 yards to get a first down at the 39 yard line. Van Eeghen would then pick up 1 yard to get to the 40 yard line. Tony Collins would then find a hole to gain 11 yards to get to the Miami 49 yard line. Mark Van Eeghen would then gain 4 yards rushing to get to the Dolphin 45 yard line. Tony Collins would then gain just over 1 yard to get to the 44 yard line of the Dolphins as the quarter came to a close.
Quarter Four: Steve Grogan would then be intercepted by Gerald Small who would bring it back to midfield. The Dolphins would get the ball back on the 50 yard line. David Woodley would then find Bruce Hardy with a gain of 9 yards to get to the 41 yard line of New England. Tony Nathan would rush for no gain at the 41 yard line. Tony Franklin would get to the 38 yard line after a 3 yard gain to pick up the first down. Andra Franklin would then rush for a gain of 1 yard to get to the New England 37 yard line. Franklin would then get to the 33 yard line after a gain of 4 yards. The Dolphins would have to ultimately punt. The Patriots would get the ball back on their own 7 yard line. Mark Van Eeghen would rush for 3 yards to get to the 10 yard line. Mark Van Eeghen would then rush for a gain of 10 yards to get to the 20 yard line. Van Eeghen would then get to the 23 yard line after a 3 yard gain. Mark Van Eeghen would then rush for a gain of 9 yards to get to the 32 yard line. Mosi Tatupu would then find a hole to pick up 15 yards to get to the 47 yard line. Mosi Tatupu would then break a tackle and break a 24 yard gain to get down to the Miami 28 yard line. Tatupu would then rush for a gain of 2 yards to get to the 26 yard line of Miami. Tatupu would then rush for a gain of 10 yards to get to the Dolphin 16 yard line. Tatupu would then get 1 yard to get to the 15 yard line of the Dolphins. Tony Collins would then get 3 yards rushing to get to the 12 yard line. A draw play to Tony Collins who would drop the ball and recover it near the Miami Dolphin 12 yard line. While the kicking unit was on the field, the snow plow machine using a brush would clear a path in the snow for The Patriots to kick from. Newly Activated Patriots kicker John Smith would cap off the 11 play, 77 yard 6:55 drive by kicking a 33 yard field goal making the score (30) New England. The Dolphins would get the ball back on their own 34 yard line. David Woodley would then find Duriel Harris with a gain of 19 yards to get to the New England 47 yard line. David Woodley would find Joe Rose with a gain of 3 yards to get to the Patriots 44 yard line. A draw play to David Woodley would gain 1 yard to get to the New England 43 yard line. Andra Franklin would rush for 5 yards to get near the Patriots 38 yard line. A measurement would show the Dolphins were short of the first down bringing up a 4^{th} & 1 situation. With 2:11 left in the game the Dolphins would go for it on 4^{th} & 1 from the New England and they would get it as Tony Nathan would get the first down at the New England 37 yard line. David Woodley would then find Duriel Harris with a 17 yard completion to get down to the New England 20 yard line. Andra Franklin would then rush for 1 yard to get to the 19 yard line of the Patriots. The Drive would end as David Woodley would be intercepted by Don Blackmon near the 10 yard line. The Patriots would take over possession of the ball on their own 10 yard line. Mark Van Eeghen would rush for a gain of 4 yards to get to the 14 yard line before the Dolphins would use their first time out. Van Eeghen would then get out to the 18 yard line before Miami would take their second time out. With only :20 left on the clock Mark Van Eeghen would be stopped short of the first down and Miami would use its final timeout with :16 left in the game, New England would be forced to punt. The Dolphins would get the ball back on the 50 yard line. With :08 left in the game, David Woodley would be intercepted in the end zone by Roland James as the time on the clock ran out preserving New England’s (30) Victory over the Miami Dolphins. The Victory put the Patriots back to (33) and the Dolphins would fall to (42).
